Visiting lighthouses is a popular activity for those who enjoy exploring the furthest and wildest reaches of Norway. Makkaur Lighthouse is located in the north of the Finnmark municipality of Båtsfjord. It was built in 1928. Its particular attractions include the fact that it is one of the few lighthouses in Norway that remains manned, and that it is one of the furthest north in the world. There are fantastic views from here.
