Lysøen is a fabulous unspoilt island of natural beauty that is well worth visiting if you have time for a day out while visiting Bergen. You reach the island by ferry from Lysekloster, which is a drive of about an hour from Bergen city centre. The island was owned by celebrated violinist Ole Bull, whose villa is the most obvious attraction. However, the island is also a fabulous place to wander through natural pine forest, on the extensive network of well maintained paths.
