Lærsdaltunnelen (The Lærsdal Tunnel) is the longest road tunnel in the world. It connects Aursdal and Lærsdal. It is twenty four kilometres long and was opened in the year 2000. This extraordinary feat of engineering is well worth experiencing. It is part of the ordinary road network and does not charge a toll. It represents the only alternative to the extraordinary Aursdalvegen mountain road during the winter months.
