The Lommedalsbanen railway lies about twenty kilometres from the centre of Oslo. It is a 600mm guage railway which runs steam and diesel engines. The engine and their carriages are museum pieces, collected from all over Norway as a consequence of the guage becoming obsolete. The line has been open since 1981. There are three stations along the route which runs through highly attractive forest. You can enjoy a coffee in the cafeteria, and purchase a souvenir at the shop.
