The Leiv Eiriksson monument was a gift to the city of Trondheim in 1997, the thousandth anniversary of its foundation. Americans of Scandinavian origin donated the piece. It is in memory of the Norwegians who left to start new lives in the United States, especially in the nineteenth century. It is an exact replica of the statue found in Seattle. You can take a bus to the pier terminal, where it is sited.
