Landego Lighthouse lies on an island to the north of the regional centre of Bodø. It is an isolated far outreach of civilisation in the wilds of the Arctic Circle. Visitors to the island, which takes an hour to reach, can enjoy the sight of the majestic sea eagle, often seen in these parts. The lighthouse was built in 1901. It is fully operational, although nowadays automated. It is possible to spend the night in the old cottages of the lighthousekeeper and his assistant.
