Ål Church lies in the centre of the village, which is the chief settlement of the municipality. The present church was built in 1880 and was extensively restored during the nineteen fifties. The church is of particular interest since it contains items saved from medieval stave church that once stood in the village. These include a fine altarpiece and parts of the chancel. There is also a copy of the paintings that once graced the interior of the older church.
