Kulturkirken Jakob lies about a mile to the northeast of Oslo City Centre, on Hausmanns gate. The "culture church" is a stone building erected in the late nineteenth century. It is used primarily as a venue for all manner of activities related to the arts, although it retains many of the internal features of a church, for instance, the altarpiece. Kulturkirken offers a varied programme of classical concerts, lectures, art exhibitions and events that will interest many visitors to the city.
