Krossobanen is the oldest cable car in Northern Europe, built in 1928. It is still operating today, departing from the lower station just to the west of Rjukan village and taking you to the upper station more than 800 metres above sea level. The ride takes around five minutes and offers spectacular views. There is an observation tower at the top. A variety of souvenirs, drinks and snacks are on sale.
