Krokan was the first of the DNT tourist cabins and dates back to the mid nineteenth century. It now contains a museum at the spot by the Rjukan Waterfall sometimes called the "cradle of Norwegian tourism". Displays trace the history of tourism in the Vestfjorddal valley. You can get good traditional Norwegian food here. The cabin is the base for several guided tours of the beautiful local landscape. There are numerous paths in the vicinity laid out more than one hundred and fifty years ago.
