Korskirken stands in the very heart of Bergen, right by the main square where the fish market is held. Its name means Church of the Cross. There has been a church on this site since the twelfth century. The current cruciform layout emerged during the seventeenth century. The church contains elements of all the major architectural styles, namely Romanesque Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque. The fine church organ dates from the late nineteenth century and the stained glass windows were added in the twentieth.
