Lying to the north of Rjukan, Kalhovd is the perfect, popular base for exploring the wonderful Hardanger plateau. There are numerous marked and established footpaths centring around the tourist hut here. During the winter it is a paradise for cross country skiing. It is also a superb base for cycling during the summer. There are many hunting and fishing opportunities. Extended pony treks begin from here. During the summer there is a bus service to Kalhovd from Rjukan centre.
