The Jostedalsbreen National Park Centre lies in Stryn Municipality. It is owned by a private foundation and was opened in 1993 by Prime Minister Gro Harlem Brundtland. The main building is constructed in the style of the largest Viking longhouses. It contains a cinema, and exhibitions on the flora, fauna and geology of the area. Its botanical garden contains more than four hundred native species of plants and wild flowers. A range of activities are conducted by the centre. There are walks and nature trails starting here.
