Johanneskirken, or St. John’s Church is situated in the centre of Bergen, within walking distance of the main square and most of the main attractions. It is a dramatic structure that dominates the local skyline. The church was built in 1894. It is a fine example of the neo Gothic style and culminates in a high spire. The facade is striking and elaborate. The church is used for worship within the Lutheran tradition. It has a fine organ and is the venue for recitals and classical concerts.
