The grand estate of Jarlsberg lies in the countryside a few kilometres to the north and west of Tønsberg. The noble lands have been the residence of the Jarlsberg family since the seventeenth century. The mansion dates from 1699 and is a protected building. Much of the estate’s present look derives from building work done during the Empire period in the early nineteenth century. It is the largest farm in the country, at 750 acres, and continues to be a family home.
