Ilen church is located in the eastern part of central Trondheim. It lies between the Nidelven river and Tronheim fjord. It was consecrated in 1889. The building is in a neo-Gothic style typical of the period. The designer was architect Eugene Sissenere. It is built of stone and has a wooden interior ceiling. It has a fine Claus Jensen organ, which was extensively restored in the nineteen seventies and is still used.
