Haugesund Town Hall lies in the heart of the coastal town. The striking building is one of the most famous in the country. It is surrounded by an attractive park. This was opened in 1949 while the building itself dates from 1931. It was designed by the architects Gudolf Blakstad and Hermann Munthe-Kaas. The town hall is considered one of the foremost examples of neo-classical design in Norway. The listed building was a gift to the municipality from shipping magnate Knut Knutsen.
