Haakonshaugen is reputed to be the burial mound of the medieval Norwegian king Haakon the Good. The legend says that he was buried in Seim, in Lindås municipality, just by the village church. There is a recreation ground here that is popular with locals and visitors. Haakon, who died in 960 A.D. is said to have been born, as well as buried here. He is the monarch who introduced Christianity to Norway.
