The old shipyard at Hasseldalen forms the basis for the Grimstad Maritime Museum, which is close to the town’s two other major museums, the Ibsen Museum and the town museum. It is one of only three shipyards that served sailing vessels that have been preserved in the country. The yard was established in 1842. The museum’s exhibitions explore all aspects of the shipyard’s activities and are housed in the old administrative buildings.
