Gjerpen Church lies to the north of Skien town centre. It is a medieval stone church built in the Romanesque style. Built of stone, it is believed to have been founded in the twelfth century. The church was dedicated to the Saints Peter and Paul. It was extended in the nineteenth century, when a tower was added. The altarpiece is by Emanuel Vigeland.
