The Geirangerfjord is one of the most beautiful and spectacular natural attractions in Norway. Its unique attractions have been recognised by UNESCO, who added it to the World Heritage Site List in 2005. Cruises on the fjord are popular, particularly trips on the twenty kilometre stretch between Geiranger and Hellesylt. Dramatic waterfalls and gentle mists characterise the area. The fjord is more than two hundred metres deep at some points, and is flanked by mountains that rise more than fifteen hundred metres above sea level.
