Gaustabanen is a cable railway that runs inside the famous Gaustatoppen mountain. A tunnel takes you about a kilometre inside the mountain from where a shuttle transports cars very close to the summit of the mountain. This extraordinary piece of engineering was built by the Norwegian military in the late nineteen fifties. It has only been open to tourists since 2003.
