The Fresco Hall lies in the heart of Bergen. It is located in the old Exchange building, which was built in 1862 and extended in the eighteen nineties. The frescoes were painted during the nineteen twenties by Axel Revold, and are widely recognised as a national artistic treasure. The three wall panels trace the development of trade and industry in Bergen in three stages, from fishing, through shipping and commercial trade, to the advent of the mechanised age.
