Located down by the harbour, the Floating Chapel or Harbour Chapel is perhaps the only floating church in Europe. The simple wooden building was opened and consecrated in 2004. It is open to visitors throughout the summer. A memorial inside the church commemorates Norwegian whalers who were killed and buried at South Georgia, in the South Atlantic. The chapel is sometimes used for weddings.
