Fjære Church lies just to the north of Grimstad, on the edge of the modern settlement. The church dates back to the twelfth century. Despite its medieval origins, it is still in active use by the local parish. The church features a sculpted stone male head above the door thought to be more than eight hundred years old. The font is in a High Gothic style. The key items of interior furniture date to between 1500 and 1700. Guided tours are available.
