The Fisheries Museum lies by the attractive harbourside of Ålesund. It is housed in a warehouse from the eighteen sixties that escaped the ravages of the great fire of 1904. The museum contains extensive displays informing the visitor about the development of the fish processing industry in the town. Demonstrations are given of traditional trades such as coopering; there is a laboratory you can visit that produces cod liver oil.
