Fåberg Church lies to the north and west of the Olympic city of Lillehammer. There has been a church on this site for hundreds of years. It was originally a wooden "stave church" but this was demolished in the eighteenth century when the present cruciform building was erected. The church retains some items from the inventory of the original church. The bell dates from the twelfth century. A gravestone in the porch area is from the thirteenth century. You will also find a stone here with a runic inscription that is around 1000 years old.
