The Falstad Centre lies at Ekne in Levanger municipality. Between 1941 and 1945 about four and a half thousand prisoners were held at the SS camp at Falstad. More than two hundred were executed in Falstad Forest and many others were sent on to concentration camps. The Falstad Centre is now a national memorial and human rights centre. It also accommodates the Falstad Museum, which contains photographs documenting the history of the wartime camp. There is a restaurant here.
