Fagernesfjellet is a mountain that rises steeply and dramtically immediately to the east of Narvik. At its summit it is more than 1200 metres above sea level. A modern cable car departs just 800 metres from the city centre and takes you to the Fjellheisen restaurant, which lies at a height of 670 metres. There are five ski lifts that take you to 1000 metres. From either spot you can enjoy trememdous views. The mountain is very popular with downhill skiers, cross country skiers, snowboarders, paragliders and hanggliding enthusiasts.
