The oldest church in Tromsø, Elvehøj Church, is located some distance to the north of Tromsø city centre. The church is painted in a distinctive red. It dates from 1803. The church is cruciform. Its interior contains some interesting and attractive furniture that may interest the visitor. This includes a colourful altarpiece from the seventeenth century. The brightly painted pulpit is also worth seeing. The church serves a Lutheran congregation.
