Dovre Church lies in the heart of the little village which lies near to the popular national park region. The church dates from the mid eighteenth century and is built of wood. It is built in a classical style and is cruciform in shape. The altarpiece and font are worth seeing since they predate the current church and originally furnished a medieval wooden "stave church" that lay nearby. The sides of the church are slated to protect them from the elements, giving the building an unusual appearance.
