The wonderful Damsgaard manor is one of the finest stately homes in the Bergen area. It is located just four kilometres from the city centre. It is set in beautiful grounds with features such as fountains and sculptures. the house was built in the late eighteenth century. It is now operated as a museum open to the public. The building is constructed of wood, and is considered one of the best preserved wooden manors in Europe.
