The City Walls of Trondheim were constructed in the seventeenth century, although there have been fortifications at this point since medieval times. Visitors to this area now can see the remains of the historic defences. There is a popular park here where you can enjoy a stroll as well as excellent views of the fjord. This point provided the only access to the city centre. A town gate stood here from medieval times until the mid nineteenth century.
