An excellent way to discover more about the beautiful and historic city of Bergen is to take one of the guided walking tours run by the tourist information service. These depart from outside the Bryggen museum, in the heart of the medieval quarter of the city. You will wander through the narrow streets where the merchants of the Hanseatic League once lived and learn more about their lives. The tours include visits to both the Bryggens Museum and the Hanseatic Museum. Large groups should book in advance.
