Bogstad Manor lies in the countryside to the north west of the city centre of Oslo. The beautiful manor house holds a central place in Norwegian history. It has been the home of a Prime Minister and of wealthy industrialists and merchants. The interior contains a wealth of beautiful eighteenth and nineteenth century furniture and art. The park is laid out in a manner reminiscent of an English country garden. Guided tours of the interior are conducted. There is a pleasant cafeteria and a children’s playground here.
