Bergen School Museum lies in the centre of the city, not far from the historic harbour. It is located right next to Bergen Cathedral. The museum is housed in a building that dates from 1706. This was once the cathedral school, a venerable institution whose history can be traced back to medieval times, and which was responsible for the education of several celebrated Norwegians. The permanent exhibitions explore the history of the education system in Norway, and help the visitor to understand how it has changedover time.
