Bergen Byspill is the Norwegian name for the town players. The innovative group is made up of freelance artists and players. They perform in all sorts of places around the city, often in connection with particular anniversaries or places. The performances are designed to appeal to an international audience. Many of the pieces are historical and involve period instrument players. There are opportunities for young people to join in workshops and participate in certain performances and events.
