Austrått Fort lies in the municipality of Ørland, not far from Opphaug, and the grand manor house of Austrått. The fort was built during the Second World War as a defence by the occupying German forces. You can still see the gun installations today. It is an astonishing feat of engineering. It reaches five stories down into the mountainside. The fort is bound to attract all those interested in military history.
