The Arendal Town Museum is housed in a building that originally served as a wealthy merchant’s house. It lies very close to the coast. The museum contains several rooms that help the visitor to learn more about the lifestyle of the original residents, including the servants. There is plenty of fine furniture on display from the seventeenth, eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. You will also find recreations of a typical nineteenth century grocer’s shop and of the living quarters of a sailor’s family.
