The Arctic Circle Centre was opened in 1990. It stands on the E6 highway, on the boundary of Saltfjellet-Svartisen national park. The Centre is a natural stopping point for travellers as they enter or leave the Arctic Circle. The exhibitions cover a floor space of 1300 square metres and includes information on art, trade, tourism and nature. You can see an enormous stuffed polar bear here. A cinema shows a film about North Norway. There is a good cafeteria serving local food.
