Akershus Fylkesmuseum lies in the heart of the urban area of Lillestrøm, which is to the east of Oslo city centre. It deals with the history of the region of Akershus, the county that surrounds the capital. It hosts changing temporary exhibitions about the area. It holds an extensive archive of photographs and a library. There is a museum shop. Guided tours are available by appointment.
